Universal Processing sub-brand

uPanda Marketing

uPanda Marketing is Universal Processing’s in-house agency, focused on providing low-cost marketing services to the primarily immigrant-run small businesses already using the payment and POS services from Universal Processing.

The agency introduced itself as a nationwide marketing agency based in New York, with expertise in the cultural nuances behind campaigns for diverse communities, built on Universal Processing’s history of serving the Asian market.

01 / The mark

The mark reuses the bamboo from the rebrand’s second finalist.

uPanda already had a mark: the words U PANDA set in a plain condensed sans over a teal bar, in the old Universal Processing palette. The new one keeps the bamboo from the logo study that tied in the company vote, drawn as a single shoot rather than a cluster, so it also reads as the upward arrow the other sub-brands carry. Same construction, same color rules, and the same naming pattern as the parent mark.

02 / The launch

Introductory social posts.

The agency was new, so the first three posts had to answer the questions a business owner would actually ask: who we are, what we do, and how we can help. Each answer sits on the second slide. The first slides are one tile apiece, cut so that once all three were up they sat side by side in the profile grid and rebuilt the whole lockup. They run in that grid order here, which is why the last post is on the left. Click a tile to turn it over.

03 / The collateral

Marketing collateral.

A new agency needs something to put in a client’s hands. These three pieces do that job: they set out what uPanda sells, answer the questions that come up first, and give the sales team something to leave behind. All of it holds the same black ground, white type, and single green, so the set reads as one agency.

uPanda ADA compliance flyer

ADA compliance flyerA single-issue piece on AB 1757, which took effect in January 2024 and put websites at risk of fines up to $4,000 if they were not compliant. ADA compliance was already one of uPanda’s listed services, so the flyer carries the deadline and the fix together.

04 / Client work

The client work went to Universal Processing’s partners.

The agency needed traction, and case studies to show prospective clients, so we started with Universal Processing’s own partners. This is not an exhaustive list. These are the projects where I was the primary designer, and I directed or worked on plenty of other client work under uPanda.

  • PPServeLogo modernization and a website rebuild for a payment processing and point-of-sale company.
  • FaBled Hunters and FaBled RunawaysBranding and logos for a YouTube channel and a professional trading card team.

The parent identity and its rollout are in Universal Processing’s Rebrand.
